A sense of community is at the heart of the driving force for FarmEco. Through our membership scheme, members become shareholders in the organisation. They can contribute ideas, expertise and time to building on our work. Each shareholder has a right to vote on decisions at our AGM and mould the future direction of the farm.
While we do not own the farm, we are tenants on the farmland, paying rent and liability insurance. We take guardianship of the trees and fields and own the crops they produce.
Many people by shares in companies with the hope of increasing their monetary value or benefiting from dividend payments.
However, when buying shares in a community benefit society, the returns are in social and nature capital. You will see benefits that money cannot buy; develop new friendships; escape from a busy life into a tranquil space; create a legacy for future generations; increase wild spaces for birds, animals and insects; help rebuild local food production; be part of the solution.
