About Us

Past

Home Farm is run by third-generation farmer, David Rose. The family has run the farm since 1933 when Stanley Clarke first came to Screveton. His daughter & son-in-law, Margaret and Peter Rose took over from Stanley and in turn passed it on to their son David. David is a Woodland Trust Ambassador, hosts various Agroforestry (farming with trees) research projects, and is a Nuffield trustee. FarmEco is part of the wider farm, and both Home Farm and FarmEco aim to follow sustainable farming practices that enhance the environment.

Present

We are a registered Community Benefit Society with a vision to build a sustainable farming model for FarmEco that benefits both the community and the environment.

We are currently run by volunteers and raise money to continue the work we do through shares, fundraising and donations, grants, sales of apple juice and vinegar, running workshops and experiences, hosting family fun days, as well as rent from our partner businesses.

Our mission at FarmEco is to reconnect people to land and the environment, we aim to:

Building the Ecocentre (which now hosts Thorpe Performance) and the Cafe (Cafe Velo Verde) were partly funded by the Rural Development LEADER programme through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. This was the start of creating a community hub at the farm.
