Farmeco community carefarm aims

To create a local food system that doesn’t cost the earth, improving people education and health while creating jobs, at the same time reducing the carbon footprint of food production.

Creative agriculture for everyone

It is our aim to educate and inform people of what’s happing in a working rural countryside. In my grandfather days we had a mixed farm providing milk meat fruit and vegetables many of which were sold through local markets to local people sugar beet and other fodder was grown on many farms as well as the traditional cereal crops with a large % used within our county.  We had a baker in the next village; farmers had a real connection with their customers.

Now there are very few animals of farms and farmers grow cereal crops for national feed or the export market, we rely totally on the supply of oil based chemical and fertiliser. Farmers rarely see the person we supply, and we have little contact with the person eating the food.

Food security is a real issue, how long could you survive without going to a supermarket, how much food do you produce for your own consumption, with food travelling such distances we are in real danger of being cut off from supply by shortage of fuel or someone disrupt section’s of our road system, With growing public interest in the environment and in our food - where it comes from and how it is produced - on our farm we see a real opportunity to re position ourselves. And return to some of the traditional mixed farming systems that served us so well.

I believe farming is in a real stage of transition, and look forward to working with the community in a creative agricultural system for everyone.
